In recent months, our legal assistants and lawyers have seen an uptick in fraudulent red light camera violations being sent to our clients in the mail. This sophisticated scam has become increasingly common especially in South Florida. Below is an example of a fake that our office has recently acquired.
As you can see, it looks very real at first glance. However here are a few things to look for to spot a fake:
- the website is NOT www.violationinfo.com o https://secure.redlightviolations.com/
- the name is listed as “owner of…”
- there is no pin # on the notice
- the amount is NOT $158.00
- the notice states immediate suspension
This scam has been around for several months and has even been covered by the local news. We encourage all of our clients to double check their violation notices for anything amiss. If you have any questions about a redlight camera violation call us.
